The Guess Who - is FRONT row! 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg - YUP Me

It was Great to see Burton Cummings inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame this year. One of the most exciting moments of my Boxing Career was being front row for the historic reunion of the Guess Who at the 1999 Pan Am Games held in Burton's home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

It was on another Boxing trip early in my career that I met Burton Cummings.  It was in 1984 at my first big tournament the Roddy MacDonald Gloves.  We were staying at the Royal York hotel in Toronto.  My brother Gerry and myself were walking down the hallway with my Dad (Cosimo Filane) when Burton rounded the corner.  My Dad being in the music industry, had a mutual aqaintance, Art Snider who was my dad's manager.  Burton and my Dad began talking music and Burton invited us all in to his room to continue the talk.  I did not have a camera back then for that exciting moment, but I did years later when boxing got me a front from ticket to the reunion of the GUESS WHO.

Sylvio Fex (Team Coach) and I made sure we were front row for the historic reunion of the Guess Who. Sylvio is also a big fan of the Guess Who as well as Bobby Curtola (whom is from my hometown area of Thunder Bay. Actually one of the first times I met Sylvio and he found out I was from the Thunder Bay area, he asked me if I knew Bobby Curtola. The question turned into a running joke, everytime Sylvio would see me he would ask me the same question...Do you Know Bobby Curtola?   #hollywoodfilane @hollywoodfilane

The Guess Who got back together in Winnipeg, the band that rose to international fame in the 1960s and had a string of hits before breaking up in the mid 70s.  All four members reunited for the closing ceremonies of the Pan Am Games.

Gary Peterson, Jim Kale, Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings decided to reunite after receiving a personal letter from Manitoba Premier Gary Filmon asking them to perform at the games.
